#Run_Chicago Campaign

The Chicago Marathon is one of six major championships in the Marathon World along side London, Berlin, New York, Tokyo, and Boston. I am not even close to being a major champion or elite runner, and I have never even visited the city of Chicago.

Chicago has been described to me as a "Clean New York".  I think my fascination with the city began when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.  Reading books like Wrigleyville (unknown author) and Teammate by WS hero David Ross really grasped the culture of the city and peaked my interest about visiting someday, but never really thought it to be possible.

During my preparation for my first marathon last year, I began researching the big city marathons with hopes of being able to get accepted to run Chicago and as luck would have it, a non-guaranteed entry lottery pick was available so guys like me can have a chance.  I had a small window to apply so as soon as it came open, I filled it out and crossed my finger and a couple weeks before Christmas I found that I will be joining close to 43,000 other runners at the starting line, but what better way to tour the city, Right?


I am super excited to train and experience this event and I also realize how fortunate I am to have this opportunity.  My fundraising goal is to raise funds to help cover some of the cost with travel and hotel, but I also want to use this as a platform to raise money for the local children's hospital here in Macon, Ga.
